Translation is a polymorphous process involving inquiry, interpretation, creation and production. The intention is to communicate and the practice enacts mediation through a complex array of relationships.

This exhibition presents a diverse selection of works from eight Higher Degree Research students from the School of Art as they negotiate the process of translation in their own practice to elucidate the nucleus of their research.
As research candidates, their specific process of translation may not be fully resolved, but the works presented are. They embrace the fact that translation is not a singular or static event, but a communal act cognitised by a culmination of ideas, the mutability of material practice and the reception by an audience. It is a circular act within a trajectory that reflects a participatory collective of generation.
