UniSA graduates have taken out all of the awards in the Design Institute of Australia’s SA/NT Graduate of the Year Awards.

The winners of the Design Institute of Australia’s SA/NT Graduate of the Year Awards (GOTYA) were announced on 2 August at a ceremony at Stylecraft’s Adelaide showroom. The program supports and celebrates fresh graduates from around the country in the early stages of their career.

Top graduates across various design disciplines are nominated by their educational institutions each year to be evaluated against rigorous criteria and interviewed by a panel of industry judges to determine the quality of their skills and creative impact.

With nominations across multiple design categories, UniSA graduates took out all the SA Awards, a testament to the hard work of the nominees and academic staff’s ability to produce career-ready graduates.

The overall SA/NT Graduate of the Year title was awarded to Joshua Bernardi, a graduate of the Bachelor of Design (Product Design) at UniSA.

Emily Renner, recipient of the SA/NT GOTYA in Visual Communication, went on to achieve the Australian Graduate of the Year title in the same category against nominees from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia. 2019 marks the second consecutive year that a UniSA graduate has been named the Australian Graduate of the Year in Visual Communication.

Congratulations Emily Renner, Joshua Bernardi and Chee Yin Shan on being named the 2019 SA/NT Graduates of the Year.

Details of the GOTYA program and all 2019 State and National Award recipients can be found here.

"Since graduating from UniSA I've been working full time as a Graphic Designer at Mango Chutney after being recommended for the role by my lecturers. To me, this really encapsulates what the Communication Design program at UniSA is all about. It is not just an engaging program which encourages critical design thinking and problem solving, whilst helping develop your practical skills - it is a program where the staff support you, encourage you, and provide you with invaluable opportunities. I look forward to always being a part of the UniSA community, as I begin my (hopefully long) career in design!"
