Illustration and Animation program highlighted in international workshops and exhibitions

A recent trip to Beijing bore creative fruit for Illustration and Animation Program Director David Blaiklock, who was invited to take part in an International Art and Design Workshop at the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication. Art and design academics and practitioners from Poland, Denmark and Korea attended the 4-day workshop, which included interactive activities and lectures with students at the Institute.

One student has subsequently had work developed under David’s guidance accepted into the Now-Most Invitational Poster Exhibition at the Association of Hungarian Fine and Applied Artists Gallery in Budapest.

Following the trip, the School of Art, Architecture and Design was invited to include work in an upcoming multidisciplinary international exhibition at the Library Gallery of Shandong University of Art & Design. The exhibition, due to take place in November, features work from staff and students of 10 international Art and Design schools.

The trip has also resulted in an invitation to join the China-International Design Educator Association, and to join the jury of the C-IDEA Design Award, International Student Competition.

David looks forward to attending the International Art and Design Workshop again in 2020.
