Rams (2018) is a documentary portrait of Dieter Rams, one of the most influential designers alive. The film examines Rams' wide-ranging influence on modern design and explores the twin concerns of consumerism and sustainability.
Rams' philosophy goes beyond 'design' as it is generally understood; it illustrates a way of life free from materialism and visual clutter. Known for the functionalist approach of "less, but better," Rams is closely associated with iconic brands Braun and Vitsœ and his legacy can be clearly observed in the development of the consumer product market as we know it today.
The film features original music by pioneering musician and producer Brian Eno.
