Drawings from L'Inferno by Dante Alighieri
The School of Art, Architecture and Design last month welcomed Professor Robert Brinkerhoff as part of the Visiting Distinguished Thought Leader scheme.
Professor Brinkerhoff brought a unique research perspective to the School, transcending traditional disciplinary boundaries to explore the intersection of illustration, design, writing, semiotics, social justice, and narrative theory. As Dean of Fine Art at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Professor Brinkerhoff overseas a studio division of the College comprising ten departments: ceramics, film/animation/video, glass, illustration, jewellery + metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and textiles.
A leading global illustration academic who works across industry and academia – including institutions such as MIT, Brown, and Brandeis University – Professor Brinkerhoff’s work has been recognised by Print, How, American Illustration, the Society of Illustrators, CASE, and UCDA, amongst others.
View a series of illustrated works inspired by Dante's Inferno in the Kaurna Building Foyer, level 3, until the end of April.
The works are accompanied by a Visualisation Project Exhibition by third year students from the Bachelor of Design (Illustration and Animation).
